The Mayweather saga begins

My oh my it's getting a little testy out there already. Manny Pacquiao barely has the tape off of his hands and the Mayweather vs Pacquiao sweepstakes have begun. Mayweather wants the lions share of the money, and Pacquiao wants the lions share of the money. Who deserves the lions share of the pot?

We can list the names of those who were defeated by Manny Pacquiao, but most everybody knows who they are. We can list the of names that were defeated by Mayweather as well. Floyd is undefeated and love him or hate him, he clearly knows how to fight. Nobody has been able to defeat him yet, and there have been plenty put before him that have tried. Manny Pacquiao has cleaned house on legends, and in multiple weight divisions at that. So who sells more tickets? Manny or Floyd?

Apparently the Manny Pacquiao vs Miguel Cotto fight did 2 million PPV buys, and that my friends makes HBO very happy. As of right now it appears as if Pacquiao is the ticket seller over Mayweather. With that said, when you combine both Mayweather's popularity with Pacquiao's popularity you get a combustible fight that has huge money to be made.

The show has started, and it's going to be a task for the promoters to get through, but it will probably get done. There is way too much money for both men to make, too much for them to walk away from. Just for the record, this writer feels as if Pacquiao should get the lions share of the pot. In my opinion, Pacquiao has fought much more worthy opponents, and has accomplished more by conquering 7 weight divisions.

45/45 split with the winner taking the 10 percent has been tossed around. Seems too logical though, someone will want more, perhaps both. I do not envy the negotiators for this fight. They have their work cut out for them. This is a fight that must happen, it would be a travesty if greed squashes the biggest fight in decades.
